Love this place!!! They won an A+ for restaurant report cards recently. Service and food are fabulous!
A great place to have in Lakewood. The food isn't spectacular, but very solid. The staff are outstanding. Some of the best service in the area. Put it on your list of options.
Drove this place a couple of times on way to tequilas down the road. Wow am I glad stopped! Came for dinner on a whim the other night the salsa is very good the replenish delecious and wow the sopapillas. The margaritas were outstanding and well balanced. Came back for breakfast on Sunday the menudo is fantastic with a lot of umami the breakfast burrito smothered with green delecious and they have traditional breakfast that looked great with crisp grilled thin potatoes. The Bloody Mary and michelada will bring u back also
So happy we came here! Tacos al carbon were so delicious- the salsa that comes with them is fresh and perfectly spicy! My husband had he carnitas and they came out perfect. Food is great and the owners are wonderful. Service could be a little more attentive, but it is decent.
Great Mexican food!! We started going there when they were on 38th. And now we we will drive to Lakewood.
Try their Steak chile rellenos they are to die for!!
Wow, what a find. Authentic, Great food, servers are are genuine, not what we expected in Lakewood. The green chili was delicious, the steak was perfect, in the rellenos - delightful. You have to check this out
Love that they moved closer to my house. One of the best Mexican food places ever. Menudo is amazing! Service was great. Very attentive servers.
This place used to be on 38th Avenue close to where I live so I haven't been since they moved because it's now in lakewood area. I happened to be over in the area and we decided to stop in. I'm not a big fan of the ambiance of this place, cold tile floors and a tan color but I can overlook that for good food. Don't let the ambiance throw you off. The food is delicious. The green Chili is spicy but not overly so and has large chucks of pork. I had a tostada plate one ground beef, one chicken and one shredded beef all the meat was fantastic but order a side of guacamole to make it really extra good. I also had a tamale on the side with green Chili, next time I'll just order a side of green Chili. My bf had the burrito plate which is three burrito smoothed in green Chili. We both agreed the shredded chicken is great, it's so moist and it must be slow cooked. Overall we thought it was great. It's one of those places where you can grab a good Mexican meal and not pay a fortune.
So here's an update from my original review, the gist of which is that Hilario's has stepped up their game a good deal since that review. Still a pleasant, southwestern motif. I last described service as attentive and pleasant, and I would elevate that to outstanding at this time. I took issue with the salsa on my initial review and the salsa we had last night was delicious - thick, not watery, with a strong influence of red chile. I last described Hilario's as a restaurant you're glad is in your neighborhood, but that you wouldn't drive to, and their food as good. Now, I would drive to go to Hilario's - the food is very good. And, the prices remain right where they ought to be. Another plus is that they have some nice, semi-private options for parties of 6 - 8.
Well done, Hilario's - you stepped up your game and you deserve this update!
Absolutely fantastic Food Service ambiance. Lots of food for the price service is great it is also very quick, if you want it to be quick
I LOVE Hilario's. The food is really good and fresh. The chips and salsa are delicious. I have frequented Hilario's since the early 90's when they were located in the Highlands. When I first heard they closed that location I was like - oh no! Then they opened up the new place, which is mere minutes from me. I like the flautas, the tostadas, enchiladas, and my favorite El Burro Martin. The refried beans at Hilario's remind me of my grandmother's. They also do catering, for family get-togethers I order a box of chips and pints of salsa, my 8 year-old niece is obsessed with the stuff, her two-year old sister is following suit. Good food, great, clean restaurant, and good service. It's making me hungry just thinking about it.
I have been here several times and have not been disappointed. The green Chile is great and the waitstaff very friendly.
Good food , good atmosphere, nice place to eat Mexican food.
This is a very nice Mexican restaurant with great food and great people inside you will never be disappointed at Hilarios.
The Quality of the food is consistent as is the service...it's comfortable and affordable. I have a sensitive digestive system and must be cautious about where I chose to enjoy my Mexican food.
My favorite Mexican restaurant in Denver. We eat here several times a visit when we come to Denver. I highly recommend the Steak Chimichanga!!!!
great food! tasty and pork green chile exceptional!! absolutely fabulous pork carnitas!
Awesome, awesome, awesome. It's always good to come home to Colorado and come to Hilario's. Best Mexican food in the United States!
Sooooo good. Great costumer service
Our neighborhood go-to. Great food, reasonably priced.
We had dinner there tonight and I was so pleased! Their food is delicious! Closest thing to home I have found in Denver (I'm from New Mexico) if you haven't tried it please do! Really clean, awesome service and margaritas are to die for! I found out new dinner spot!! I will be back
I will begin by stating that Mexican food is my favorite of all foods when I dine out. There are many places from which to choose in the Denver metro area and I think I may have been to just about all of them over the many years I have lived here. This restaurant is located in Lakewood and never disappoints me as to their freshness of ingredients, taste, and service.
If you want the best breakfast burrito in town, then I would definitely make this a top priority on your list. I ordered one from this restaurant for the first time last week and it was the most delicious breakfast burrito I have ever tasted. Their special combination of green chile, fried sliced potatoes, onions, egg, and bean was a real delight. I asked for the deluxe which is lettuce, cheese and tomatoes on top and also requested guacamole and sour cream. Incredible!
I hope this restaurant will always be in business to serve our community....a true gem waiting to be discovered!
Great food! Service was great. Thank you Hector.
Great food and service. They have been serving great Mexican food for a long time.
Such a great Mexican restaurant! Awesome staff! Food is so delicious! I love their green chili! The margaritas are delicious! Amazing place!
We were looking for a good Mexican place. I was unsure because the parking lot was pretty empty but their ground beef is very flavorful and their green chili is amazing. The lady at the front was very nice too.
The only thing is that the Chimichanga was so buried under beans and rice and sauce that my husband didn't know where to start eating from, which isn't really that bad - it's meant to be smothered, after all.
Chicken tacos were bland too.. Maybe add more seasoning?
But, overall, the service and quality of food definitely deserves this rating.
absolutely fabulous pork carnitas!
Great food and a very clean atmosphere. Fast and helpful service. Priced right for good food.
Our new favorite Mexican place! The steak chili rellenos are absolutely unbelievable! They serve regular chili rellenos on a bed of sirloin. This is a killer entree. We have also had the Mexican hamburger which was also superior. We have ordered only a few other things, but once we find an item we like, we usually stick with it. The green chili has an impressive depth of flavor that is lacking in many other Mexican restaurants.
We have no reservations in wholeheartedly recommending this restaurant.
I love to eat here before my boyfriend and I go bowling at the Brunswick right next door. Awesome food and atmosphere, and it makes for a great date night!
Best Mexican food I have had in a long time!!! The staff is so friendly and fast! My family's favorite restaurant in Lakewood!!!
I ate here a few weeks ago while in Denver. And I was pleasantly surprised! I did not think any place could compete with MooseHill Cantina. But they did! My green-chile burrito was excellent! And the chips and salsa was great. And Excellent service. A++++
I've been 3 time now. Every time the food has been absolutely great and the service as well. Will definitely be here again...
Favorite Mexican restaurant in the entire Denver area! Best Chili rellenos I've ever had and the best green chili in Denver! The own always comes to talk to us like we're old friends! Great place and great food!
My wife and I decided to try the new Hilario's on Kipling. After being loyal customers of the prior restaurant for nearly 20 years, it's tough to not compare the two. We liked the new paint and brighter lights until we got to the back dining room and found the lights too bright. We moved back out into the hallway to find a table and got settled. Our waitress and her helper were there in a flash with chips and salsa and to get our drink orders. It took us a while to peruse the menu's 6 pages but we finally decided and ordered. My wife had the rellenos plate and I had the 3 burrito plate. The kitchen was a little slower than before but not bad at all. When the food arrived, the plates were very hot but the food was only warm, and cooled off very quickly. The food tasted very good, especially the green chili. One menu suggestion to the owners - I'm a big guy with a big appetite, but 3 burritos is too much, even for me. I would rather have had 2 burritos and sides of rice and beans instead. Overall, though, the meal was very good and the price was only a few dollars more than the old place.
Food and service always the best. Love the food. Inside it is a nice place to get away from it all, you don't feel rushed.
I don't get the bad reviews here. Hilario's food is authentic and delicious..... They just added Pozole with pork and my wife and I LOVED IT! Never have had a bad experience, the staff have always been friendly.
My girl and I chose to eat here before a Broncos game and were absolutely pleased. The food is very authentic and the green chile has massive and tender chunks of pork. So delightful. The staff is very prompt and runs like a well oiled machine. You are seated promptly, chips brought on the spot, and drinks well on their way also. We both ordered combination plates and the size is just right. Some restaurants will overly serve you portions and you end up leaving it or feeling downright stuffed like you're going to burst but these portions are just right. I would definitely recommend Hilario's for your Mexican fix!
Clean, fast, friendly, and delicious. The pork in the green chili melts in your mouth. I agree with another review that the cheese in the chili relleno leaves something to be desired, but the refried beans on the tostada are the perfect mix of whole and mashed and they prop the shell on a bed of lettuce so the shell doesn't get all soggy. (I'm pretty sure the shells are fried in house, too)
We so disliked the mediocre food at the old Moose Hill Cantina that we were very happy this location was taken over by Hilarios. There's an extensive and varied menu. Service is fast and friendly. Food is OK+. Our only disappointment was the guacamole. I heard the waitress explain at another table that they make the guac every morning...but it had the gray-ish look and flavor of day-old. Portions are quite large, the green chili is tasty, and the cheese doesn't taste fake.
We have eaten here twice now. The Restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. I thought the food was very good. This is probably my favorite Mexican food restaurant on Green Mountain.
I ordered 'H' which was a steak chili relleno, guacamole taco, and bean tostado. The green chili was spicy but good.
Absolutely delicious food! The taco meat is actually hamburger, the seating is nice and spacious and the staff is friendly! Absolutely our new favorite mexican place!
Came here on Cinco De Mayo and just loved the attitude and prompt service by our waitress Mayani. The food was very good but the salsa was a bit watery. I would probably recommend this place over the Blue Bonnet and Hacienda but La Loma is still probably the best. We saw the Manager ask a few other customers how things were but he never addressed us. The Host was very pleasant and the food was served very quickly.
I love this place, wish they didn't move from the 38th avenue location. I miss their food!
After a previous visit here (before they even had the new sign up & grand opening) I swore I wouldn't return. I believe in second chances and I was also offered lunch here by a friend, I didn't mention my previous visit to him either.
The chips and salsa were good and the kind waitress kept my tea full. For lunch I ordered a combination plate, the same one I use to judge other Mexican restaurants.
I had the beef enchilada, crispy tostada and crispy taco. The enchilada was over stuffed with well seasoned meat and covered in more of a brown enchilada sauce which I love. The darker brown sauce is how they do it in south Texas and has more flavor in my opinion. To many enchiladas are smothered in a red sauce that is equal to tomato sauce.
If you've read any of my previous posts for Mexican you'll know I can't stand when my tostada and taco are sitting in the enchilada sauce becoming soggy,
Hilarios nailed it by setting them on a bed of lettuce.
Everything had good flavor and was well put together. I will be back for a 3rd try to finalize my opinion.
Beautiful new location. Friendly servers. Ordered the Menudo for my mom, served piping hot and according to her perfectly cooked and seasoned. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas. Although it was barely warm the food was Attractively arranged on the plate. The enchiladas were over smothered with the red sauce. The shrimp were chopped but nicely seasoned. I prefer a little more spice. The fresh guacamole was perfect.
We recently moved here from New Mexico and myself being originally from Texas, we were absolutely dieing for some Mexican food! Driving home I've noticed this establishment a couple of times. Being spontaneous, I decided we needed to give it a try.
Upon arrival we were greeted and seated promptly. Just as we were taking in our surroundings and opening our menus, we noticed they did not have chips and salsa glaring at us, as we are so used to from NM , and began to panic. Not 30 seconds later, a wonderful wait staff person brought us, low and behold...chips and salsa! They don't even bother with the small stuff and get right to it. How nice!
My son had the smothered bean burrito and I had the chili rellenos plate. We had our order, I kid you not, within 8-10 minutes.
I won't speak for my son but being the mother, his plate was empty and when I asked if it was good...he said yes. Done.
Myself? The food was good. The rellenos could use a more creamier cheese, I felt a couple of times that I had a mouth full of cheddar, so that wasn't so great but you never know someone might like it. The beans and rice were good.
The waitstaff was attentive, courteous, and carried on a conversation. One of the owners even came and greeted us and asked how we found them. Us being knew and all, it was very nice. Thank you.
Food very good and absolutely the cleanest restaurant I have ever been in!
Great Taste and Value
Hilarios has become my preferred mexican restaurant in the N. Denver area. Service is very good, great tasting food and good sized portions. The interior isn't anything fancy but it's clean and has a good, local, home-town feel to it.
The best in Denver!
I have been going here for over 5 years. It is my favorite mexican in Denver and really anywhere else. The owner Hilario is friendly and ALWAYS working. The food is awesome, quick and affordably priced. The homemade salsa is the best! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who has not tried it!
Great food and drinks!
This place has great food and the margaritas are the best I have ever had! The service is great, too.
Try it and you'll go back.
Hilario's is a great neighborhood joint for some good old fashioned Mexican food. I just moved to the neighborhood about a year ago, and go there at least once a month. They have yummy sirloin rellenos with some of the most flavorful green chile I've ever had. Also order a guacamole appetizer, it is great, and they give you a good value for your money.
Great Green Chili
I go here for the green chili and the margs.
This is the best mexican food barr none, the customer service is excellent and the owner always come up to your table and greets the customers.
Good food high prices
The food was served hot and quickly. The Chimichanga was different than what I am used to, but was good.
Best Mexican hamburger
Best mexican hamburger

This is a wonderful family owned restaurant. The service is good. The food is better. The owner makes the round to ensure you enjoyed your food.
LOVE THE FOOD!!!
THIS IS A GREAT FAMILY RESTAURANT! IT IS FAIRLY PRICED WITH A COMFORTABLE ATMOSPHERE.
Excellent Mexican Food
I've heard good things about this place from friends and recently tried it myself. Excellent food. One of the better places for Mexican food. The steak enchiladas were incredible. Great drinks, off street parking, friendly service and a nice patio.
I love their enchiladas. YUM! Good prices too.
This restaurant has the best frozen strawberry margs and the food is really good!!
They have an awesome patio so you can enjoy the weather and I can even keep an eye on my dogs in the car.
I have been allowed to take my dog on the patio one time. I'm not sure if it's always ok because no one was on the patio at that time but the people in my party but I got the ok from the manager at that time and I love dining with my dog!
